Monflanquin
Monflanquin is a charming hilltop village just a 10-minute drive from Gites de Bessou. Originally a military Bastide town built in 1256, Monflanquin has retained its medieval character and has been beautifully preserved in the central square and surrounding streets which makes it a great place for a leisurely stroll on a warm day.
We recommend exploring the shops around the square before settling in for lunch on the terrace at Le Bistrot du Prince Noir. This is a casual French restaurant serving up reasonably priced and generously sized local specialities as well as burgers, steak, omelettes etc.
Be sure to pop into the local patisserie on your way back to pick up everything that you need for a continental breakfast - it is the best in the area!
